Text Box: These pictures are courtesy of Joyce with the famous JRS Kennel. Clockwise from above: “Austin Puppy Power” riding a horse, “Badger”, the falcon who plays with his jrt pup and “Josie” who won an AKC Agility title! The dog on the boat is our very own Queen Bee. Russells can do any activity with ease… all they need is a little guidance and lots of love! And it is so easy to love a jack…
Text Box: This is Heather Brook and her dog, Jesse. He is very talented and knows over 200 tricks… thanks to Miss Heather! She is studying to be a dog trainer.

Heather uses clicker training with Jesse and this method is extremely easy to learn and the dogs respond well to it.

The shorty Jack Russell is capable of learning a great deal… and when you work with them on a daily basis, it keeps their mind active and they seem to get into less mischief this way!
Text Box: Yes! The Jack Russell is even good at pheasant hunting! We hunt with some of ours as well.

Per the October 2009 issue of Field and Stream magazine, author Tom Davis writes about five good small-breed hunting dogs. In this article, he mentions that the Jack Russell Terrier is often overlooked but definitely recommended as a good hunting companion!

In Vol.35, No.8, October 2010 issue of “Trapper & Predator Caller” on pages 44-49, author Lance Homman writes a story that he titled “The Finishers”. It’s about his buddy, Quinton Wagoner’s two JRT’s who help him out when they’re recovering a wounded coyote by tracking the blood trail and then holding the prey’s attention allowing the hunter to finish the job.

Wagoner says, “You want a dog with
the right temperament. The last thing you
want is a dog that will charge right
in and let the coyote get a hold of him.”

Shorty Jack Russells can successfully live in a small space
as long as you do the two following activities:

Love them with all your heart, make them a part of the family AND

Give them some sort of daily exercise whether it be throwing a Frisbee, ball or stick (depending on what that dog likes) because each dog is like you and I… an individual!
We all like different things… you just need to find out
what yours likes to do for fun!

These activities will keep their mind active and they won’t get bored. Challenge them in some way… attend an agility clinic in your community, take them to puppy classes, take them to Terrier Fun Days and other similar activities.

But most of all, just love them with all of your heart and they’ll love ya right back… unconditionally!

Text Box: As I find more shots of Jack Russell Terriers doing extraordinary actions, I will include them here! In the same token, if you have JRT’s and have them doing something someone wouldn’t think a dog could do, email them to me (flushingpheasantrussells@gmail.com) and I’ll post it here and give credit to you!
